Welcome To Yellowwood Cafe & Restaurant
Please Note: We are Closed on a Monday except public holidays.
Yellowwood Café is situated on the historic Fairfell Farm. Sir George Sutton established this farm and built the wonderful home that is now a Restaurant. The House was built in 1870 and stone that was quarried on the farm was used to build the beautiful homestead. All the wood is mainly Yellowwood that came from the Yellowwood indigenous forests in the Karkloof. The home was originally Thatched, Sir George extended the original house adding on a lounge with a vaulted ceiling an office and what is now the kitchen. He then used corrugated iron which was imported to roof the house.
His Grandson Tom Sutton sold Fairfell to Dawn Mackenzie in 1979, for a period of 20 years prior to this sale, the house was rented out to various families. Dawn then sold it on 4 years later to Derek and Eve Hughes. In 2003 Sandra Murphy purchased Fairfell and established what is now the Yellowwood Café and Restaurant.
In June 2013 Yellowwood celebrated its 10th birthday.
